Codecs, Readyboost, and search queries in Windows 7.

Post by jasonb »

For additional Windows 7 codecs, take a look at SHARK007's Win7codecs.

To disable Readyboost (and potentially improve boot time):
  1. Run regedit.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\rdyboost\Parameters.
  3. Delete the existing BootPlan binary.
  4. Create a new BootPlan binary with a value of 0.
To disable the caching of search queries:
  1. Run gpedit.msc.
  2. Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer.
  3. Set Turn off display of recent search entries... to Enabled.
